This is a pastel study of a beautiful marble sculpture by the artist STRIX. The Mollosus hound was praised in antiquity for its fierce loyalty. They were employed as fearsome war dogs, guard dogs and hunting dogs, cited in ancient literature more often than any other breed

The Jennings Dog is a Roman sculpture of a Molossian guard dog. Named for its first modern owner, Henry Constantine Jennings, it is a 2nd-century AD Roman copy of a Hellenistic bronze original. On display at the British Museum.

To create this artwork the artist used pastels on cotton Stonehenge paper.

A pastel painting of The sculptural masterpiece of Laocoön and His Sons, one of the greatest treasures of antiquity on display at the Vatican museums.

'From an early age I was taught to draw through sketching and copying sculptural works. This gave me a solid artistic foundation, to develop my draughtsmanship skills and an appreciation of the complex nature of design. To this day I continue find this discipline an immensely satisfying way to relax and I continue to learn.' - STRIX

To create this artwork the artist used pastels on toned board.

This is a tribute to a beautiful cat who had a unique and loving personality. Sadly, he passed at a young age due to his heart. He is pictured in his favourite spot hiding amongst the berberis and grape hyacinths where he loved watching the birds in the spring time.

To create this artwork the artist used oil paints on a wooden panel.

A process guide for this portrait, using the Flemish method of oil painting is available.
